Who uses Tutors 4 Kids?
We have students from all walks of life. Children who are taught in both the independent and state sector feel that the benefits of extra tuition are worthwhile and can provide a vital boost to their confidence.

Who are your tutors and how are they chosen?
The tutors working for Tutors 4 Kids are all people who have teaching qualifications or previous tutoring experience. Some are currently teaching full or part time and others have recently left the profession but still enjoy the satisfaction that can be gained from helping students to gain a better understanding of a subject. All are committed to their roles as tutors. When students make a request for help we analyse their requirements and the tutors we have available before matching one to the other.

What geographical areas do you cover?
Although the agency is based in Cambridgeshire, we have tutors all over the UK.

Why should I use a company?
Finding tutors can be a very difficult and time consuming exercise. We only use tutors who are committed to their role and the students with whom they will be working. We carry out thorough checks on their suitability, qualifications and experience which ensures the tutors we use can be carefully matched to each student.

What is the difference between Tutors 4 Kids and any other tutoring company?
The tutors we use are all very good at what they do. They all have appropriate teaching qualifications and/or experience working with young people. They are all committed to helping students to realise their academic potential and improve their understanding in given subjects.

Tutors 4 Kids is committed to being the link support between customers and tutors. We attempt to match as closely as possible the needs of the students to the tutors who can help. We are also available as a contact should any problems arise or further assistance be required.

How quickly can tuition begin?
You request a tutor giving us details of your requirements. We match your requirements to a suitable tutor. Your tutor will then contact you by phone. At this point you can hold a detailed discussion about your child’s requirements. The time and date of the first lesson can be arranged.

The lesson takes place and you pay the tutor the required fee (see Fees page) and travel expenses if required.

Where does the tuition take place?
This is to be negotiated between the tutor and yourself. If the tutor is required to travel to your home which is more than three miles away then they will need to be paid travel expenses (see Fees page).

How often should lessons take place?
Usually a one hour lesson a week is considered enough but this can vary depending on the student. Keeping the same tutor and having regular lessons over a period of time is often the best for the student.

Won’t my child be too tired for an hour’s tuition after school?
One-to-one teaching is very different from the classroom environment but additional tuition can be tiring and when times are being negotiated with the tutor, suitable days need to be considered.

I need a tutor for a subject not listed here, can you help?
Possibly. Please contact us using info@tutors4kids.co.uk to find out. We have new tutors joining the agency every month so although we may not necessarily be able to provide you with one at this moment, we may be able to do so shortly.

Will the tutor be able to fit around my child’s commitments/activities?
The tutors will try their best to find days and times which are most suitable for all concerned but occasionally this is not always possible. If this is the case then please contact the agency and we will find you another tutor.

What reassurances do I have about the tutors and how do I know that my child will be safe in a one-to-one situation with a tutor?
All of our tutors have to provide evidence of a CRB check and references. Alongside these assurances, parents should meet the tutor at the first session and it should have been agreed beforehand where the lessons will take place. If the lessons are being conducted in the student’s home, a quiet room is an ideal location and we recommend that the door is always left open.

How do I know the tutor is up to date with the curriculum?
All of our tutors are required to have relevant and recent teaching/tutoring experience of their specialist subjects.

How do I change the arrangements?
This should be done directly with the tutor.

How do I cancel a lesson?
If a lesson needs to be cancelled then you need to contact the tutor directly giving them as much notice as possible. If less than 24 hours notice is given, then the tutor reserves the right to charge the normal rate for the lesson.

What happens if things go wrong?
Firstly you should discuss the situation with the tutor and hopefully a resolution will be found. Failing this then contact us and we will try to help.

Will my child get homework?
This will be something that needs to be discussed between yourself and the tutor.

What should I do if I don’t want tuition to carry on?
You need to contact your tutor directly to let him or her know and also the agency via an email so that we know that this is the case. If you wish to request a new tutor then send us a request via our Enquiries page.

Can I change the tutor that I have been allocated?
Yes. If you feel that the tutor/tuition is not suitable for whatever reason then the agency will allocate you another if one is available. Please contact us as soon as possible if this occurs.
